Waiakea Uka athletics

meeting and sign-ups

The Waiakea Uka Athletic Association is holding a membership meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Waiakea Uka Gym.

Also, the association is holding registration for its 10 and under youth basketball league from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the Waiakea Uka Gym. Divisions include 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.

Waiakea High is holding summer workouts and conditioning in the following sports:

Football: Monday-Thursday, 3:15-4:30 p.m. at the track and weight room, under way

Air riflery: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the gym, starting today

Boys basketball: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:15-6:15 p.m. at the gym, starting today

Girls volleyball: Mondays and Wednesday, 4:15-6:15 p.m. at the gym, starting Monday

Girls basketball: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:15-8:15 p.m. at the gym, starting Monday

These workouts/conditioning are open to all students who will be enrolled at Waiakea in the 2012-13 school year. Students are required to turn in a completed physical form in order to participate.

The Hilo High football program is having a parent informational meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday for school parents interested in having their child participate in the 2012 season.

air riflery applicants

Waiakea High School is taking applications for an air riflery coach for the 2012-13 school year. Applications are available at the main office Monday-Friday from 7:45-4:30 p.m.

The deadline to apply is June 29.

Keaau High bowling

conditioning ongoing

Keaau High bowling conditioning is under way and open to all boys and girls interested in participating for the Cougars this fall.

Practices are usually at 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Hilo Lanes.

Parks and Rec hoops

league is forming

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a mandatory meeting for its ages 8-10 boys and girls basketball leagues at 5 p.m. July 18 at Aunty Sally’s Luau House.

The meeting is for all coaches or team representatives interested in playing in the Hilo District age-group league.
